“There are so many people who can’t have children, who are waiting to adopt and who would be willing to take care of the baby if you don’t want it. Why are you being so selfish?”

If you want to talk about all the people waiting to adopt, how about we talk about all of the already born children waiting to be adopted? You know, the ones that the anti-choice movement conveniently forget? Why do the people wanting so badly to adopt forget about them? Are they not good enough? They’re already here. Why won’t they give these kids a chance?

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, there were 408,425 children in foster care in September 2010 (the most recent report I could find.) I’m sure the number has only escalated.

You advocate for adoption, but more often than not, these kids are thrown into a system (a racist, sexist system) that screws them over. I’ve witnessed it, kids bouncing from foster home to foster home, waiting to find someone to adopt them. And once they can no longer be used as tools for your movement, they become easily forgotten by the movement that was willing to defend them when they weren’t fucking born.

I don’t see your shitty “pro-life” movement trying to help out those children. I’m sure some anti-choicers do, but clearly the movement as a whole doesn’t give a shit. All I see are anti-choicers standing outside abortion clinics with propaganda, rather than trying to work towards helping these children.

And on a final note, I do feel very bad for the people who can’t have children but want them. I think that’s awful and I can’t imagine how devastating that is for them.

But that doesn’t make them entitled to my body.

I am under no obligation to rent out my uterus, no matter how many guilt trips your shitty movement throws in my face.
